“I wanted this store to have a special mood both for the location and for San Francisco itself, taking its color from the red of the Golden Gate Bridge,” said Jonny Johansson, prior to the opening of Acne Studios Geary Street, the Swedish retailer’s first store in San Francisco.
“It is a large and beautiful space, and we have therefore kept the fixtures to a minimum.”

Acne Studios’ CEO Mattias Magnusson was recently in town for the unveiling of the striking new space at 18-24 Geary Street, which is decorated in Golden Gate red, milky off-white and aluminum.
To celebrate their San Francisco presence, they hosted a cocktail party at the store. Spotify Premium, another Stockholm sensation, provided entertainment for the night, with performances by LANY, Jacob Banks and DJ Pippa Brooks.
Among those spotted include Pinterest’s Ben Silbermann, Eventbrite’s Julia Hartz, Dropbox’s Drew Houston, Zynga’s Mark Pincus, Jawbone’s Hosain Rahman and Peek’s Ruzwana Bashir, as well as Lauren Goodman, Mary Gonsalves Kinney, Barry McGee and Clare Rojas, Jessica Silverman and Sarah Thornton, Stevie Howell, Jay Jeffers and Michael Purdy, Claudia Mata, Emily Holt, Caroline Rooney and others.

After the event, the party continued at Mission Chinese Food — and the tiny space was absolutely electrified by DJ Pippa Brooks.
It was a fascinating mixture of cultures, with tech CEOs mingling with fashion people to celebrate a Swedish brand at a Chinese restaurant in the Mission.

The party continued on at Mission Chinese Food at 2234 Mission Street.
