We love the glamorous new renovation of Wilkes Bashford’s San Francisco store (375 Sutter St.), which was recently unveiled with a festive grand opening celebration that showcased all seven floors of the new townhouse-inspired design.
During the festive grand fete, fall and resort clothing from Italy’s top designers were revealed with the finest Italian wines and gourmet bites, while SF Jazz will provided a different style of music on every floor.
“Our design team has paid meticulous attention to every detail on every floor, turning our flagship San Francisco store into a metaphorical ‘townhouse,'” said Jack Mitchell, CEO of The Mitchell Family of Stores, which acquired Wilkes Bashford in 2009.
Gensler, the architecture, design, planning and consulting firm, created the new store design. Jack Mitchell described the new interior as “an exciting new environment not only for perusing our fashionable selection of women’s and men’s clothing, but also for trying on garments in our new, expansive fitting rooms, socializing with shopping companions on our penthouse level, or consulting with our trusted sales associates.”
“I’ve worked with the Mitchells for over a decade and their integrity and passion towards their clients sets an example for our entire industry,” said internationally-acclaimed designer Brunello Cucinelli “Their commitment to restore the historic Wilkes Bashford townhouse is a testament to their vision for the future of the company. It is sure to become an instant San Francisco landmark.”
Shortly after the opening party, Wilkes Bashford hosted another festive event for longtime friends and customers such as Kamala Harris, Paul Pelosi, Joy Bianchi and OJ Shansby, to celebrate their newly expanded jewelry collection.
Designers Adam Heyman from Oscar Heyman and Paul Morelli made a rare public appearance for the special occasion, with a portion of the evening’s sales benefiting PAW (Pets Are Wonderful).
