When we saw Carolyne Roehm, the great designer and author, selling some pieces from her wardrobe on Vaunte.com recently, we knew we had stumbled upon a site that was going to have tremendous impact in fashion.

The new by-invitation shopping site features designer clothing, shoes and accessories from the closets of the chicest women, fashion editors, designers and other well-known tastemakers.

People Magazine called it “the Barneys of recommerce” because it only carries the most elite labels like Chanel, Prada, Alexander Wang and Marchesa. Carolyne Roehm’s sale included multiple items from her favorite designer, Oscar de la Renta, Manolo Blahnik, and Valentino (almost everything has sold out, but you might still be able to buy a few things by visiting her page.)

The company’s New York-based founders Christian Leone and Leah Park (they were formerly Gilt Groupe’s founding vice presidents), were in San Francisco recently to zero in on five of our chicest women to feature on the site — and we can finally announce who they are!

They include Allison Speer of Allison Speer PR (whose sale begins March 16, 2013); Sabrina Buell, the well-known art advisor at Zlot Buell; Lauren Goodman, the fashion editor-at-large of 7×7 Magazine; Jane Gruber, analyst at Ross Creek Capital Management; and fashion stylist and editor, Tienlyn Jacobson.

The San Francisco style setters join others such as fashion designer Veronica Miele Beard, filmmaker Liz Goldwyn, Amanda Hearst, Kimberly Ovitz, and a variety of fashion editors such as Vogue’s Rickie De Sole and Valerie Boster, in offering a curation of items from their wardrobe.

Co-Founder Leah Park says that “Vaunte is truly curated. Women went through their life and selected these pieces, as opposed to a buyer looking at a season and finding things that people will hopefully love.”

It’s that personal touch, the provenance of the pieces, that sets Vaunte.com apart from other sites that sell previously owned clothing. “We are an editorial online magazine that features real women and their stories,” she says. “The fact that you can buy and sell is a bonus feature.”
