The elegance of Marissa Mayer in Jason Wu, Mary Beth Shimmon in sultry caped chiffon designed by the late Bill Blass, or Stefanie Ejabat in a jubilant look created by Giambattista Valli, are just a few instances of why San Francisco’s 91st Opera Ball was as dazzling off stage as on for those who love fashion.
The February 1st opening of the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay was recently celebrated with a spectacular black tie event with more than 950 guests. The Champions Gala featured appearances by Tim McGraw, Kevin Spacey, the Oakland East Bay Symphony conducted by Michael Morgan, Vocal Rush, Alizma Violon Trio, and Tyia Wilson. During the event, angel investor and philanthropist Ron Conway announced a $40 million donation from himself, wife Gayle and sons Ronny, Topher and Danny, to help fund the new outpatient medical building at the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay.
