The debut of FOG Design + Art at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason demonstrated that San Francisco, despite its size, is a great art city. Founded by event designer Stanlee Gatti, interior designer Douglas Durkin, and the late Elaine McKeon, the four-day show celebrating 20th and 21st century “design in all its forms” featured prominent dealers from around the country. They exhibiting progressive design and art that set an entirely new standard for the Bay Area, with over 4,000 visitors attending.

With gala chair Tanya Powell starting the evening in an elegant Vera Wang ball gown and ending in a short runway-worthy Dolce & Gabbana, there was a full gamut of looks. One saw understated elegance with Yurie Pascarella in Andrew Gn and Mary Beth Shimmon in Chanel; a full flowering of colors, shapes and textures from Deepa Pakianathan, Paula Carano, Sonya Molodetskaya, Elizabeth Fullerton and Komal Shah; and striking black dresses on Karen Caldwell, Azadeh Riaz, Stephanie Southerland, Stephanie Ejabat, and SF Ballet's Principal Dancer Mathilde Froustey.
