Saks Fifth Avenue and The League to Save Lake Tahoe recently presented its annual luncheon and fashion show featuring the Oscar de la Renta Resort Collection.
The debut of FOG Design + Art at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason demonstrated that San Francisco, despite its size, is a great art city. Founded by event designer Stanlee Gatti, interior designer Douglas Durkin, and the late Elaine McKeon, the four-day show celebrating 20th and 21st century “design in all its forms” featured prominent dealers from around the country. They exhibiting progressive design and art that set an entirely new standard for the Bay Area, with over 4,000 visitors attending.
Michael S. Smith was recently honored at Hedge Gallery in San Francisco at a party hosted by Alison Pincus, Vanessa Getty and Allison Speer. His design work for a Palladian Villa in Malibu is being put up for auction at Christie's in New York. Nicolas Berggruen, Princess Tatiana Galitzine, Dede Wilsey, and Sabrina Buell were among the guests.
Now in its 8th year, the 2012 Mid-Winter Gala had the support of Chanel as Marquee Sponsor for the first time ever, and one could sense the elegant Chanel touch throughout the evening.
Only in its forth year, SF20/21, held at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason, has had a big impact on the modern design scene, and it has continued to grow its repertoire. Claudia Juestel attended the recent 2011 show, and reported back on what she found.
