Dressed for the occasion in pieces from the Spring 2014 collection, San Francisco’s Mary Beth Shimmon, Komal Shah, Sonya Molodetskaya, Angel Susinto, Agnes Susinto, Brenda Zarate and Ken Fulk started off at the Palace Hotel, where Dior hosted a cocktail party at the Dom Perignon Suite. They were then driven to the East River pier, were Dior water taxis ferried them to the Duggal Green House in Brooklyn, for a spectacular show attended by everyone in the fashion industry as well as celebrities such as Rihanna, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Marion Cotillard.
After the fashion show, Komal Shah hosted a dinner for friends at Marea Restaurant, which was followed by Dior’s after party at the Top of the Standard. Raf Simons arrived at 1:00 AM and mingled with guests such as Andre Saraiva, Michel Gaubert, and Alexandra Richards, stopping for a moment to chat with our friend Brenda Zarate.
The gorgeous new space, designed in Dior’s signature style, is surely to become a new couture haven for some of the area’s best dressed women, such as guests Stephanie Ejabat, Sloan Barnett, Katie Traina, Jacqueline Sacks, and Pam Baer.
Here is our selection of the best ball gowns at San Francisco’s 91st Opera Ball, September 2013. Among the looks our favorite is worn by Deepa Pakianathan, who had a stroke of genius in combining an exquisitely embroidered Andrew Gn gown from his resort 2014 collection with a museum-worthy Alexander McQueen headdress. We’re told that Deepa was the first person in the world to wear the McQueen piece since it was last seen on the Fall 2013 runway.
Sponsored by Testa Vineyards, the event brought together San Francisco tastemakers such as Jack Calhoun, Stephen Brady, Gary Friedman, Joy Bianchi, Anna Weinberg, Ken Fulk, and Jamie Finegold, among others.
The exhibit will run at Coup d’Etat until May 2013.

The event was hosted by Christian Dior, which presented the beautiful Dior Spring-Summer 2013 collection to the guests. Museum Director, Jay Xu, remarked on the wonderful collection as a perfect match to the eighth “wonder of the world,” the Terracotta Warriors, which will be on display throughout the exhibition.
The exhibit at the http://www.asianart.org/exhibitions_index/terracotta-warriors / Asian Art Museum runs through May 27, 2013 .
