Sotheby’s to Auction David Bowie’s Personal Art Collection

David Bowie had a lifelong dedication to the arts and built a large collection of paintings and sculptures by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Frank Auerbach, and Damien Hirst among many others.

From November 1st through November 10, 2016, Sotheby’s will stage “Bowie/Collector”, a three-part sale encompassing some 400 items from his personal collection, which encompasses pieces from a variety of periods and styles, such as Outsider Art, Surrealism, Contemporary African art and the Memphis group.

Before the auction takes place in November, Sotheby’s will host previews of Bowie/Collector this summer in London from July 20 to August 9. Then, the art is taking a world tour of its own, stopping first in L.A., then New York, and finishing with an exhibit in Hong Kong.
