As another example of the massive revival in Union Square’s luxury retail environment, Salvatore Ferragamo has just opened a beautiful new space at 236 Post Street.
The 11,000 square foot store, taking up two floors, is larger than its previous Geary Street location. With Tunisian stone and Mondrian walnut flooring, Artemide light sculptures, and LED lighting throughout, it’s an airy, chic, yet comforting space that provides the perfect environment for shopping from Ferragamo’s luxurious selection.
The store features Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti’s women’s and men’s ready to wear collections, shoes, handbags, fine jewelry, and accessories, and is a wonderful reflection of the direction Giornetti has taken the house — more refined, sexy, and sophisticated than in years past.
Ferragamo is hosting a cocktail party this month at the new store to celebrate its 100th anniversary, and to show its support for the 2014 Mid-Winter Gala, which it is sponsoring. The annual gala is co-chaired by Vanessa Getty, a friend of the House’s.
Getty looked gorgeous when she wore a golden lace Salvatore Ferragamo dress to the Inaugural Gala of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills last October.
We are told she may be wearing Ferragamo to the upcoming Mid-Winter Gala, as well as Co-Chairs Trevor Traina and Kathryn Lasater. We haven’t heard yet what Co-Chair Allison Speer will be wearing, but that event is always full of elegant surprises, so you’ll want to check SFLUXE in March to see!
