Sabrina and Claiborne in Elle

Two women well known to readers of San Francisco Luxury Living appear in the October 2011 issue of Elle Magazine. In a piece photographed by Liz Collins, Elle asked “12 of the most stylish women we know to let us in on their subversive fashion secrets.” Included among them are Sabrina Buell and Claiborne Swanson Frank.

Sabrina Buell, the West Coast director of Matthew Marks, tells the magazine she wears a lot of Comme des Garcons, Issey Miyake and Junya Watanabe. ”All of those people approach [fashion] like artists, and to me that’s more interesting, wearing pieces that are thoughtful.” And great news — if you love her chic Bottega Veneta dress ($2,600) you will be able to get it at the big new Bottega Veneta boutique opening in San Francisco later this month (140 Geary Street.)

Fashion photographer Claiborne Swanson Frank describes her style as Bohemian, preppy and tomboy. “That’s what’s so cool about American style. We’re always pulling from different cultures and genres for inspiration.” Her Dries Van Noten dress (though not American), is paired beautifully with a felt fedora and gorgeous Navajo cuff.
