WHO: Ricky Lizalde – an incredibly talented women’s clothing designer and Project Runway Season 4 viewer favorite. This season on Project Runway, Ricky won the Levi’s Challenge to create an iconic denim look that captures the spirit of the legendary Levi’s® Original 501® Jeans. The winning design Ricky created was a fierce dark denim mini-dress that Levi’s reproduced in limited-edition and sold on www.levi.com. Ricky’s dress sold out in 8 hours!
WHAT: Come meet Ricky at a special appearance at the Levi’s Store in Union Square! Ricky will meet and greet shoppers, share personal style and design advise and showcase five fabulous, one-of-a-kind denim pieces he designed in celebration of Levi’s “501® Day”.
“501® Day” is an annual event that encourages Levi’s employees to participate in important volunteer activities in their local communities. This year, to kick-off “501 Day” in style, The Levi’s® Brand introduces the “Take Your Jeans Off” campaign. “Take Your Jeans Off” is a jeans exchange program where customers are invited to donate an old pair of jeans and receive a 20% discount off a new pair of Levi’s jeans. Proceeds from the Levi’s donation will benefit Goodwill Industries®.
The cool denim designs created by Ricky will be auctioned at www.shopgoodwill.com starting May 5th. Sales from the auction will help fund Goodwill job training programs that benefit hundreds of thousands of people each year.
