The masked ball that Fred Giuffrida and Pamela Joyner (shown here with Marissa Mayer and Zachary Bogue) hosted in their beautiful home last week raised approximately $200,000 for the Making Waves Foundation, an organization that provides educational opportunities for young people in need.

The annual event is one of the highlights of the fall social season, and rightfully so — Pamela and Fred are the perfect hosts, creating an evening of utmost glamour. But this year’s event was slightly different than years previous in one small way. “For the first time we thought we would add a little fun and try an auction,” Pamela told us.

Included among the auction lots: a case of Black Coyote 2005 Cabarnet Sauvignon (donated by Dr. Ernest Bates), the opportunity to take 16 friends to the luxury suite during a San Francisco Giants game (donated by John and Regina Scully), a Bahamas getaway for two (donated by Abaco Club Winding Bay), and a trip to Fashion Week in New York, with a Marc Jacobs fashion show (Donated by Marc Jacobs and John and Regina Scully.)
As you may have noticed by the photos, the theme of the evening was red-and-gold. Pamela was stunning in a couture piece by New York designer Zang Toi.
“I chose Zang because he is a dear friend and very philanthropic. His runway shows are often charitable events benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Zang’s favorite charity,” said Pamela.
“Additionally, Zang is kind enough to underwrite the Young Patron’s Party for the 75th anniversary gala of the School of American Ballet, the official academy of the New York City Ballet.”
She will be co-chairing the Gala, which is then followed by the Young Patron’s Party, chaired by Chelsea Clinton. Several ballet supporters from San Francisco will be at the event. We can’t wait to see the photos! But in the meantime, here are more of Drew Altizer’s images from the ball…
