The MOCA Gala
The Museum of Contemporary Art recently held its 35th anniversary gala at the Geffen Contemporary in downtown Los Angeles.
Presented by Louis Vuitton, the event was a celebration of the museum’s recent fundraising success, the appointment of MOCA Director Philippe Vergne, and provided guests a preview of the highly-anticipated exhibition of work by the late Mike Kelley.
It also marked the return of artist trustees Barbara Kruger, Catherine Opie and John Baldessari, and new board co-chairs Maurice Marciano and Lilly Tartikoff Karatz.
Guests included a fun and glamorous mix of people from the art, music and film worlds, such as Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Dita Von Teese, Owen Wilson, John Baldessari, Dasha Zhukova, Jane Fonda, Ryan Seacrest, China Chow, Rachel Zoe, Liz Goldwyn, Gela Nash-Taylor, Rodarte designers Kate Mulleavy and Laura Mulleavy, Alison Pincus and Vivi Nevo, among others. But the ultimate moment of glamour was when Diana Ross took the stage and gave a performance that brought down the house.
Overall, the night netted $2.4 million for the museum, which is a good start to its new endowment goal of $200 million.
