A hip nautical chick that we know has recently informed us of some wonderful news — the splendid Maltese Falcon is expected to sail beneath the Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday September 27th at 2:00 pm! We can’t wait to see it.
Without doubt the most famous and most beautiful boat in the world, the 289-ft Dyna-Rig yacht is currently headed here from Hawaii.
According to a reporter for sailing magazine “Latitude 38”, she will “probably anchor in Drake’s Bay on Thursday and Friday nights to clean up and get ready for her grand entrance” on Saturday.
After passing beneath the Golden Gate, she will be anchored in Richardson Bay, within view from owner Tom Perkins‘ home.
The Falcon will be sailing the Bay on October 4th or 5th in support of the 2008 XOJET Leukemia Cup Regatta (Rupert Murdoch will be in attendance on the 4th) and then on October 18 the Falcon will be tied up at Pier 35 in San Francisco for private tours by Mr. Perkins’ friends and associates.
So while there will be plenty of opportunity to gatch a glimpse of the yacht in the next few weeks, the most dramatic moment will be the grand entrance on Saturday. You won’t want to miss it!
