La Perla has opened a new boutique in San Francisco’s Union Square, offering the finest in luxury lingerie.
170 Geary Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
Designed by Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi, the space is inspired by the work of Carlo Scarpa from the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona, with soft, dusty-coloured walls dressed in painted fabric, and a beautiful range of colors, from pale blue, through dusky pink and daffodil yellow.
La Perla’s soft, sensual pieces are displayed in transparent cases with gilded metal hangers, or presented to customers on velvet-lined trays (a trademark of La Perla’s since its start in 1954, when the company’s founder, an Italian housewife named Ada Masotti, would carry her collection in a velvet-lined box as she went door-to-door to local shopkeepers.)
The space was five years in the making. As the CEO of La Perla North America, Suzy Biszantz, told us a few months ago, “This is really a project that I’ve spent a lot of time on, and I’m so excited.” She had reason to be excited — it’s one of San Francisco’s most beautiful boutiques!
