This Thursday, June 19th, is the 2008 Bachelor auction (http://www.guardsmen4sale.com/), to be held at Ruby Skye. This year’s auction will feature a finalist on Bravo’s Top Chef, a former NFL quarterback, doctors, standouts in finance and business, and a trio of firemen all donating their time for this local worthwhile cause.
“Last year we had more than 1200 people attend the Bachelor Auction and raised more than $70,000 to help at-risk Bay Area Youth,” said Anupam Dalal, Chairman of the 2008 Guardsmen Bachelor Auction. “This year we will again give the generous women of San Francisco the chance to go on a dream date with some of the Bay Area’s most eligible bachelors and local celebrities, while raising money for at-risk kids in the Bay Area a winning proposition for everyone involved.”
This year;s event will again take place at Ruby Skye (420 Mason at Geary) and will start at 7 PM, with complimentary cosmopolitans being served until 8 PM and the auction starting at 8:30. The price of admission is $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Following the auction, guests will be invited to the official afterparty, to be hosted at Slide (located next door to Ruby Skye) with music provided by DJ Donovan.

Ryan Scott developed a fan base long before his national television debut on Bravo’s “Top Chef” in 2008. As chef at the white-hot Myth Cafe in San Francisco’s financial district for three years, his California Mediterranean menu earned both critical acclaim and long lines for his robust soups, incredible salads, huge sandwiches and signature deviled eggs. Prior to Myth Cafe Ryan spent four years at Restaurant Gary Danko, and has trekked across the US to learn from many of the country’s best chefs.
In addition to his restaurant work, Ryan has been an instructor at his alma mater, The California Culinary Academy, and donated time and cuisine to many local organizations including the American Heart Association, Share Our Strength, Meals On Wheels and many others. His next adventure is as Executive Chef and Partner at Mission Beach Cafe, a popular neighborhood restaurant that’s soon to become an national dining destination when he takes over the kitchen this month. His menus, alongside those of acclaimed Pastry Chef Alan Carter, feature New American cuisine that takes full advantage of the best produce and products of the season.
Born and raised in Paris, D.A. is a former surgeon and now an investment banker at Merrill Lynch working with healthcare companies. D.A. likes to ski in the winter, sail in the summer, run across the Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday mornings, and play squash at any time.
Favorite place on Earth: A dive bar with good friends late on a school night.
Favorite restaurants: George Blanc for lunch or Lameloise for dinner (food doesn’t get better than in Burgundy where he was raised)
Dan is a former professional soccer player, now turned finance professional. In his spare time, he plays more soccer, shoots basketball, attempts golf, beats drums, and strums his guitar. He also likes watching movies, hanging on the balcony with a great book, hitting the town, and last but not least loving and living life!
Dan is equally at home in a trendy restaurant as he is in a dive bar. We hear from SF ladies that he’s a great dresser, hilarious, and quite chivalrous. His favorite restaurants in SF are Umami, Osha Thai, and Pesce. When he is back home in New York, he likes Sushi Samba, The Cafeteria, and Harbour Lights.
What kind of woman are you looking for: “I am drama-free and would like someone who likes to enjoy life to the fullest and live a drama-free life with me.”
Mark grew up in England before his family moved to America and settled in Apple Valley, Minnesota. After earning his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, Mark moved to San Francisco where he works in Healthcare and manages his own small business.
Adventure is an important aspect of Mark’s lifestyle- he’s been fortunate enough to have had some amazing experiences such as riding his motorcycle through Europe and Patagonia. While living in Switzerland he learned to fly paragliders in the Alps, and now in his spare time he pilots an antique biplane he keeps in the South Bay.
When h’s not traveling, Mark likes to spend time with his family and friends sharing great food, great wine, and great conversation. If there’s live music involved that’s even better. He is looking for a woman who is passionate in all that she does, has a sense of adventure, and can laugh at him as well as herself.
Charlie is the founding partner of K2K Development, a local real estate developer with projects in San Francisco, Park City, UT and South Carolina. Prior to founding K2K Development, Charlie spent three years in venture finance as Venture Partner with Headland Ventures. He also had a brief career in law and politics as an attorney for Venture Law Group, a silicon valley law firm, and political positions for two U.S. Senators. He attended Vanderbilt University/University of Washington Phi Beta Kappa and a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he graduated near the top of his class and was a member of the South Carolina Law Review.
Charlie is passionate about his work and loves what he does, being able to see and touch what you’ve built and something that will be there long beyond your own lifetime is incredibly satisfying.
Being able to control his own schedule, Charlie enjoys traveling abroad, always looking for new places to go, and spending long weekends with friends all over the country. He loves returning to SC to visit his family home, enjoy the beach and relax in the sun. He is an avid athlete having played multiple sports in high school and college and has enjoyed coaching high school basketball part time. Charlie craves excitement and adventure and has a great appreciation for the finer things in life. He loves to be out and about, but also welcomes curling up on the couch with a good movie.
Although he has lived all over the world, including briefly in Greece and Italy, Charlie is a southerner at heart. The second of three brothers, Charlie’s friends and family are very important to him and he is looking for someone who shares the same priorities.

The Guardsmen is committed to advancing at-risk Bay Area youth by funding indoor and outdoor educational programs. Through the Campership program, each year we provide financial support to allow approximately 3,000 children to attend summer camp and other summer programs. Through the Scholarship Funding program, we provide more than 140 annual private school scholarships to enable disadvantaged youth a choice in their education.
