Decadent Treats, Divine Jewelry and Delicious Discounts at Barneys New York
Jessica Moment and Susan Atherton, Co-Hosts of the Shopping Event at Barneys for Raphael House

The valet parking at Barneys New York in San Francisco meant something big was happening, and not just because it allowed shoppers to bypass the construction Armageddon downtown. There were several reasons, most important being the 10% discount on all merchandise in the store, with an additional 10% benefiting Raphael House of San Francisco, an organization that helps at-risk families achieve stable housing and financial independence.

Well, that and the champagne, bite-sized grilled cheese, a sea of the hippest, chicest in town, and Sidney Garber designer Brooke Garber Neidich.

Brooke Garber Neidich was New York cool wearing a long black skirt that seemed to whistle when she walked — or maybe that was the clamoring of her gold and silver bangle-party, or the layer of gold chain necklaces that fell perfectly into her décolletage. Either way, she fully stole the show. We both agreed to go big or go home when it comes to jewelry.

My favorite piece? Her gold and diamond buckle bracelet that I wore most of the evening (wish list worthy!). “I made the buckle bracelet to be paired with the Cartier love bracelet,” Brooke said with a smirk as she glanced at my own arm party of Hermes and Cartier. How cliché and un-Barneys of me, I thought. Clearly, I need to invest in some Sidney Garber. And trust, I will, but first let’s take a picture.

Event going, fashion like-minded, uber chic do-gooders like Michael Purdy, Mary Beth Shimmon, Emily Holt, Sobia Shaikh and, of course, the event’s co-hosts Jessica Moment and Susan Atherton didn’t disappoint in their understated, yet thoughtful designer looks.

A mix of leather, ripped jeans, studded Louboutins, Wayne dresses, colorful fur capelets and bold, eclectic accessories ala Sidney Garber was a breath of fresh air at a fashion event in San Francisco that usually entails the same people wearing the same designer’s pieces.

The Barneys shopper never forgets to be creative and try new brands because the intimacy of the shopping experience there allows for a more thoughtful purchase — a purchase that reflects your aesthetic and no one else’s.

As Sarah Jessica Parker once told Vanity Fair, “If you’re a nice person and you work hard, you get to go shopping at Barneys. It’s the decadent reward.” This is the truth, people. I should know as I bring every single one of my clients there.

Barneys is known for embracing the small, unique, incredibly talented burgeoning brand. The one no one knows about until SJP is wearing it, of course. That’s what makes shopping there exciting and different and, well, cool.

And shop they did. Don’t believe me? Just ask Barneys’ top personal shopper Edward Teran who dressed at least one guest that afternoon and was busily finding sizes for others left and right (myself included).

All in all, Jessica Moment and Susan Atherton hosted a fabulous event for a fabulous cause — and let’s be clear, all of these people deserved a decadent reward or two at Barneys! Thanks, SJP.
