At Saks Fifth Avenue on March 30, 2011, hosts Lily Beischer, Kate Sheridan-Chung, Leigh Matthes and Jeana Toney offered a special, private preview of the Calvin Klein Fall 2011 collection with Women’s Creative Director Francisco Costa.
Sales proceeds benefited the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s Center for Childhood Creativity, which emphasizes open-ended child directed play and is designed to nurture future generations of creative thinkers and innovators in the Bay Area.
Guests nibbled on Caesar Salad, Mini Moroccan Lamb Burgers, Pistachio Crusted Chicken Roulade Medallions, Pancetta Wrapped Petit Filet Mignon, Maine Lobster, and an inventive “Peas n Carrots” Nantes Cup. Francisco Costa was fresh off the plane to personally showcase his modern, light, feminine designs. In both 2006 and again in 2008 Costa won the Council of Fashion Designers America (CFDA) award for best womenswear designer. Francisco additionally has the distinction of winning the National Design Award in 2009 in the category of Fashion Design and is renowned for his refreshing, uncomplicated sensibility.
The event also served as an informal kickoff for the Discovery Museum’s Board of Trustees Discovery Council annual gala: “Playdate 2011”. This year the event takes place with a Speakeasy theme at The Palace Hotel on April 30, 2011, so mark your calendars now!
