The Chinese New Year festivities focused on the Year of the Snake this year. As such, it isn’t any surprise that Bulgari has decided to pay tribute to it with glittering snake designs that span over seven decades. This luxury house from Italy has revealed its latest collection at its flagship store in Fifth Avenue, naming it Bulgari: Serpenti Collection, which is currently traveling all over the world.
The gilded snake isn’t new to Bulgari as it has made its appearance in a lot of its watches, accessories and jewelry. This collection presents various designs, including archival pieces like the 1960s snake bracelet with gold, diamonds and emeralds; and the 1940s gold snake watch. Glamorous fashion icon portraits are on display, as well, including the likes of Veruschka, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marisa Berenson, all adorned with Bulgari snake timepieces, jewels and accessories.
The retrospective provides the rare chance to see one-of-a-kind top quality watches and pieces along with historical Bulgari materials. To celebrate this momentous occasion, a book is even being published by Assouline called Bulgari: Serpenti Collection. It will feature jewelry, images, sketches and watches of the brand’s designs with history through the years and will be written by Marion Fasel, a jewelry historian.
