2008 San Francisco Opera’s BRAVO! CLUB Opening Night Gala
Il Porto Antico
Please join BRAVO! CLUB’s 17th annual Opening Night Gala for the kick off of the San Francisco Opera’s Grand and Glorious 2008-2009 season with a night of fantasy and Mediterranean glamour at City Hall, transformed into Il Porto Antico, the ancient port quarter of Genoa.
This magical evening begins with an exclusive pre-performance cocktail reception featuring delectable appetizers.
Maestro Donald Runnicles then conducts Verdi’s unforgettable masterwork Simon Boccanegra at the War Memorial Opera House, featuring superstar Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky in the title role of Boccanegra and internationally-acclaimed soprano Barbara Frittoli, making her San Francisco Opera debut in the role of Amelia. This adored but rarely staged opera is a special treat for San Francisco Opera audiences, and Gala attendees will experience it first.
After the performance, festivities continue with an elegant seated dinner in the North Light Court of City Hall and dancing and live music in its dramatic Rotunda.
