Adorean Boleancu: Why I Support Family House

Founded in 1981, Family House is a not-for-profit organization that provides temporary housing to families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital. Over the course of a year it serves more than 2,000 families. It’s an organization we believe in, and recommend to those who are looking for a place to provide financial support in the community.

Because it was former Family House board member Adorean Boleancu, who first introduced us to Family House in 2008, we asked him to share his thoughts about the organization.

Why I Support Family House
Adorean Boleancu

“I’ve supported Family House due to its connection to two important passions in my life: fighting cancer — as my grandmother passed away from Cancer, and many dear to me are fighting survivors — and my love for children.

When I served on the Board from 2005 to 2009, I was very involved with Family Houses’ largest annual fund raiser event, Cabernet for Connoisseurs, which is held every February and is the gathering of the finest Cabernet wine makers and wineries from Napa and Sonoma. It raises from $200,000 to $600,000 in one evening to help many families and their children!

It is an inner passion of mine to know that we can be active, be out there to deeply and positively impact the lives of young children, and give them and their families hope, smiles, full hearts of care and love. We can make such a heart felt difference, and that is such a blessing.

Family House is a truly a remarkable organization with deep operational and management talent/staff, which brings so much benefit to so many hearts!”

Family House is an independent organization, led by a professional staff and board of directors, dedicated to providing residential services free-of-charge to qualifying families. Since it receives no financial support from UCSF, or any other public entity, the organization relies solely on the generous contributions of individuals, corporations and foundations.
