“Beige is not a color.”
That’s not just a witty Instagram meme, but a motto by which interior stylist Carlos Mota lives his life.
With his work appearing regularly in magazines such as Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, and Vanity Fair, Carlos is known internationally for the spriteful sophistication he brings to interior design.
He is able to take an already beautiful room — he has worked in some of the most beautiful houses in the world, in fact — and make it even better, through the placement of flowers, colorful objects, and other accents that are truly transformative.
“Great styling can mean the difference between an average photo and an instant phenomenon,” Kevin Sharkey (of Martha Stewart Living) recently said. “For the latter, industry insiders know to call Carlos Mota, also known as the ‘glamour whisperer.'”
As Mota visits San Francisco this week to present his beautiful new book, “A Touch of Style,” (available at assouline.com) we are taking a look back at some of his best #beigeisnotacolor moments on Instagram.
The jewels, the flowers, the beaches, the men! The jetsetting trips to fabulous locations with fabulous friends (including San Francisco’s Ken Fulk and Vanessa Getty, among others.) The glamorous events with people ranging from Vanessa Traina, Muriel Brandolini and Carlos Souza to Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg and even Hillary Clinton.
